Zambian actress and writer, Gloria Zewelanji Raen, trained at Oxford School of Drama, followed by Brown University, and received a Master’s in Creative Writing from Cambridge University. She initially worked in theatre, earning a Bessie, New York Dance and Performance award. Gloria has since worked in various independent film productions internationally including Zambian auteur Rungano Nyoni’s debut I am not a Witch, which premiered at Cannes 2017 and went on to win a BAFTA.
As a writer, her short film, Angst, won the Freak Award at Aguilar de Campoo and the Best Short Film Award at Milano International Film Festival. Gloria's first feature length screenplay, Mosi-oa-Tunya (Victoria Falls) was selected for the Urucu Realness Residency, B3 Talent Lab, MFI Talent lab and Cannes Cinefondation's Atelier 2019. She was selected as one of the writers for Netflix’s first animation series from Africa, Mama K’s Team Four, scheduled for release in 2022
